Unicorns & Unicorns

For Halloween, U&U joined forces with agency Highdive to unveil Airheads’ first-ever AI Film Festival “A.I.RHEADS SCAREFEST.” Unicorns & Unicorns curated films with AI creators, developed the website hosting the festival, and crafted the trailer video.

To successfully host the inaugural, branded, spooky AI short film fest, Unicorns & Unicorns meticulously curated and sourced talented creators while providing expert guidance through the creative process of meeting the festival guidelines set out by Airheads. Each AI filmmaker brought their own unique flair and vision to their film, skillfully incorporating the iconic Airheads balloon while seamlessly injecting humor into the horror film scenarios, staying true to the essence of the Airheads brand.

A.I.RHEADS SCAREFEST TEASER

Philadelphia Cream Cheese came to us with a challenge - create a cookbook companion to their Feeladelphia restaurant pop up. The Feeladelphia restaurant focused on senses, sensations and emotions, so we needed to craft a book that was equally unique and evocative. 

We handled everything from concept through delivery, conceiving different custom elements that spoke to all five senses: flavored dissolvable strips for taste, treated pages and cover for touch, colored phone flashlight stickers for sight, scratch and sniff labels for smell, and curated playlists for sound. We developed special pages to integrate these elements, helped design the pages, created a bespoke binding solution and constructed all the books.

U&U produced this short film in collaboration with Tribeca Studios x Bulgari as part of their Female Trailblazers film series highlighting female pioneers in the Arts blazing their own paths & breaking into male-dominated fields. 

Directed by Bella Monticelli and shot in Italy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Lot 448 is available to watch on Google Play, Apple TV and Amazon Prime.

We created a full lineup of astrological-driven videos for this campaign on behalf of Vote.org + Whatsapp.

We edited together existing footage of TV personality + astrologer Walter Mercado, before overlaying stellar graphics and supers.

To promote it's sunshine for all initiative and raise awareness about food insecurity and the negative effects of poor nutrition, Dole decided to flip the switch on the well known Nutrition Facts label - projecting “malnutrition facts" on public buildings and spaces across multiple cities in the U.S. 

We documented one such activation on a January night in New York City.

Little Caesars' Big Pizza campaign continues, this time with the Big Pizza Breakup. On the day after Valentine’s, Little Caesars asks, “Has your pizza stopped trying?” And then provides the cure for those pizza delivery lovesick blues, as only Little Caesars can.

In an inspirational brand film, and a series of more detailed demo films, we layed out how Owens Corning is Building Now. We took a multimedia approach featuring state-of-the-art futuristic buildings that were strong, light, durable, and flexible. 

Our team employed lots of different design cues and approaches, tied together by common motifs. We created something direct and clear, but ultimately let Owens Corning’s work speak for itself.

In partnership with Pinterest, we captured a fun, candid convo between Tracee Ellis Ross and Aminatou Sow. These two powerhouses chatted all things Black hair—from the Crown Act to racial bias to Tracee’s experiences wearing her natural hair on television.

Pebbles’ Never Stop Doo-ing campaign is all about celebrating kids’ creativity. We designed a website to collect artwork submissions from kid creators, then worked with four different local artists across the US to create murals featuring the winners’ artwork. 

We also created an extended AR Gallery featuring the kids’ artwork that was accessible via Instagram or QR code on the murals in Denver, Nashville, Brooklyn and Los Angeles.

The band Real Estate asked U&U to create the “Quarantour,” an augmented reality concert experience that fans can experience on their mobile devices. Transform the self-isolated space of your choice into a venue you can walk around in, complete with all five band members, stage / light / sound rigs, witty banter, and even an encore.

At this point you’ve probably heard of NFTs— the one-of-a-kind digital collectibles that hold value as forms of art or culture... and as forms of cryptocurrency. An NFT is unique and can't be exchanged like-for-like (hence, non-fungible). 

All the proceeds went directly to the James Beard Foundation to support restaurants that were affected by the pandemic.

We captured content and stills of the bird being cooked, as well as handled the NFT development.

Summertime grilling + beer = BBQ bliss. That was the concept behind Miller Lite Beercoal, charcoal briquettes that we infused with Miller Lite. We manufactured the custom charcoal, designed and printed the packaging, and packaged it all up into single serving bags perfect for a summertime barbeque. 

Launched in time to kick off summer on Memorial Day weekend, this project was a big hit, getting national attention (including on The Tonight Show!) and selling out within hours.

Directed by Erynn Patrick, these short and cheeky spots personified nature by enticing us all to get outside through text messages. Part of Merrell’s campaign to launch their new shoe - The Embark. Everything from production through post for these spots was done in house.

Directed by Paul Iannacchino and shot on location in Phoenix, AZ, Brooks had Boston Marathon champion Des Linden surprise Boston Marathon runners as they trained for the upcoming marathon. The results were heartwarming, uplifting, inspirational and surprisingly fun and goofy! We had a blast producing this one from start to finish - including production, edit, color, vfx and finishing.

In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, we created a moving collage highlighting different aspects of Asian Pacific American culture for Youtube. Designed, illustrated and animated entirely in-house in just two short weeks, this colorful kaleidoscope was a labor of love.

Unicorns handled everything from production through post and VFX on these fun spots for Corona Premier. We enlisted the help of hilarious content creator and pro golf instructor Manolo Vega to give out some helpful tips on how to refresh your golf game.

This bright and lively spot was another successful collaboration with agency Third Ear for Canijilla, the Mexican beer brand. Mixing 2D animations and illustrations with live action footage, this campaign directed by Diane Russo-Cheng is all about pre-game fun.

We added a cinematic touch to the CG machine by focusing on dramatic camera movements + strong attention to lighting.

We created two sets of custom NFTs in partnership with the NFL to celebrate the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. 

Handling everything from illustration to design and animation, we created 6 unique athlete illustrations that were each used for two different custom NFT sets: one unique 1/1 golden set as gifts to athlete recipients, and another silver limited edition set that was auctioned off to the public with 100% of the proceeds benefiting charity.

We loved making this spicy campaign with director Diane Russo and the creatives at ThirdEar. Our main spot fuzed live action, 2½D animation, and summertime party vibes. Then, we created animated social spots featuring the two new bold flavors of hard seltzers.

Dollar Shave Club came to us with an idea to sponsor NCAA athlete Drew Timme’s smooth chin and we took it one step further - creating a full on 3D CG smooth chin character that could be an ongoing social media presence throughout the March Madness tournament while Drew plays. In a Studio + Live Action collaboration, U&U director Bridget Moloney flew to Spokane, WA for a shoot with Drew and Studio brought the chin to life for the March Madness tournament from concept to modeling, rendering and animating.

Estrella Jalisco, a beer imported from Mexico by Anheuser-Busch InBev, wanted to change what happens when someone searches “Mexicans are…” online. Initially, the search would auto-fill with negative phrases like “lazy” “loud” “animals” and “ugly.” At the culmination, the auto-fill transformed to words like “caring” “great” and “passionate.” 

To facilitate this transformation, U&U worked with a team of Mexican-American artists to create Facebook pages, Instagram campaigns, and websites that contributed to a viral movement. This influx positively influenced auto-fill results in a truly remarkable way. 

With U&U, Estrella and DAVID created a campaign video called “Share for Good,” that describes the project in full.

Kevin Hart hosted Muscular Dystrophy Association's (MDA) 70th Anniversary Kids Telethon to raise over $10 million for research, education, and medical services.

We handled the live and  technical direction for the entire 2.5 hour show which featured a range of healthcare professionals, celebrities, artists and activists, from DJ Khaled, Robin Thicke, Jay Ellis and Jillian Mercado, to Kelly Rowland and Usain Bolt.

Our team created the entire broadcast graphic treatment– lower thirds, credit scroll, animated backdrops, title design, bumps, mortises, and much more!

BK decided to invite FIFA gamers around the world to play with Stevenage FC (a little-known soccer team), sign the best players, and score goals with them to get free BK. 

Another one of BK’s famous hack-vertising ideas, this allowed BK to get their sponsorship jersey on the most well known players in the world. 

A social media campaign followed, aggregating UGC while promoting the campaign.

OVERWATCH PROJECT seeks to decrease suicide by gun among veterans. Their latest campaign empowers veterans to both seek and provide peer intervention to prevent suicide by gun. OVERWATCH PROJECT is declaring The War on Suicide. 

There is a war going on here at home, invisible to most. Much like night vision goggles, OVERWATCH PROJECT is a tool that allows us to see the unseen, and fight back against the enemy. We ran with this idea, and integrated the pixellation of nightvision into the texture of the logo. 

We also wanted to maintain a neutral look without any specific references to guns or war, while keeping a rugged feel that pairs well with related imagery.

We collaborated with the creatives at Venables Bell & Partners to help launch Cardi B’s first ever shoe collection with Reebok. 

Users experienced a complete interactive journey, from the branded delivery truck to the final shoe reveal. They were led by Cardi’s notorious catchphrases, which encouraged them to pull out the shoes and try them on. 

The handmade B-shaped boxes were constructed entirely out of recycled fabrics and sustainable materials with integrated motion sensor technology. They also function as a bluetooth speaker!

This spot features beautiful direction by Debbie Formoso of multiple generations of mothers  managing it all–– teaching, tech support, cooking, cleaning, working out, and more.., At least they’re recognized with this Mother’s Day collection by Kendra Scott.

Change the Ref seeks to affect gun reform and curb mass shootings within the United States. Their campaign “The Lost Class” was developed to shine a light on the 3,044 students missing from this year’s graduating class due to senseless gun violence. 

To support CTR’s initiative to pass laws requiring universal background checks, we developed the campaign’s call to action website as well as additional development to help make sure their message was heard in a powerful and impactful way.

We hit off the 2021 SS season with a bang and created another interactive shoe box for Cardi B and Reebok. This one was also inspired from the mouth icon — a symbol of speaking your mind and moving through life unfiltered! 

This collection featured all new sneakers, as well as her first ever apparel drop. The anything-but-ordinary wardrobe had blinged out lips, a furry tongue, light up buttons, and a wacky funhouse mirror that took the selfie game to a new level.

The women behind Belly Bandit came to us with a concept for a new line of products: leak-proof undies. We worked with them from the ground up to develop the brand identity, brand strategy, product packaging, website design + development, and social media strategy.

The ACLU reached out to U&U with the task of making a short piece for their Bill of Rights dinner to showcase the work that they have done on behalf of all of us with the #timesup and #metoo movements. The ACLU gave us a bunch of footage to use. We reached out to our creative squad to bring it to life.

Developed with GUT agency, this campaign centers around a custom cheesecake tin that allows fans to create their favorite dessert in the shape of a PS5... using the classic Philadelphia Cream Cheese. 

We handled concept development, product design, manufacturing, web design, and fulfillment.

For the summer of 2020 each time you ordered delivery on the BK App, you were entered to win an official BK sign—proving your house really is a "Home of the Whopper"—plus free delivery. 360 Images on Google Maps.

We were able to pull this off during the Covid-19 pandemic while keeping safety a priority. We utilized remote streaming, put safety protocols in place on set, had everyone test (negative!) before + after shooting, and are pumped that we made it all happen with zero reported infections.

Burger King _ Home Of The Whopper

Life Sports Agency needed a brand refresh for an updated look & feel. We developed a new bold brand identity as well as a new website and social media guidelines + design. The new identity was revealed via Instagram.

Inner-City Arts, widely regarded as one of the nation's most effective arts education providers, teamed up with Unicorns & Unicorns to host a Dia De Los Muertos workshop. Students had the opportunity to create a unique version of the Mexican folk-art creature, bringing their creations into the virtual world utilizing 3D, AI and AR tools.

The class took a holistic approach to creating Alebrije figures and bringing them into the virtual world. Students were introduced to the history and meaning behind Alebrijes, then empowered to create their own Alebrije design. Students created paper figures and their own hand-painted wood Alebrijes, then brought their designs into the virtual world using Pro-Create to paint the UV textures on their 3D Alebrije. AI environments and backdrops were generated by the students to create a fully functional web-based AR experience featuring the students' Alebrijes.
